My work is a medium that translates my values.

My name is Colin Nearman and I am a self taught photographer/videographer from the sleepy coast of central California. My dad introduced me to the ocean at the early age of 3, and for the past 25 years of my life I have been in a constant pursuit to know more about it and practice my craft of surfing. It wasn't until my early 20's  that I became connected to the medium of photography. The idea of creating tangible memories through print of what my friends and I loved doing was enough incentive to invest in my first camera. Over time this passion and my drive to grow as a creative led me into opportunities that have shaped me into the photographer and videographer I am today. Early on in my career I was lucky enough to learn under the guidance of Chris Burkard who had been a friend and local talent in my small town. Through his teachings, sleepless years of shooting to build my name, and experiencing the life of a starving artist first hand I broke through and have been shooting commercially and contributing to publications around the world for the last 4 years. My work has grown and allowed me to help brands connect to their consumers in the most genuine way possible through content creation and it is a skill I strive to master every day.

Cinematography has become a huge part of my work as well and has led me into some of the most special projects of my life these last two years. As well as shooting commercials and contributing to brand campaigns.

For me it has always been and will always be about documenting raw and organic moments. From those moments where we are simply just a fly on the wall we capture what is real and we can truly connect to emotionally and there is nothing more special than that. My goal as an artist is the help keep this lifestyle and craft sacred.
